Google is exploring paid

search features using artificial intelligence

It has been reported that Google's traditional search engine will remain free, with

advertisements continuing to appear alongside search results even for subscribers.

Google is considering introducing premium

paid features supported by artificial intelligence into its search engine.

  • This move would mark the first time that a core Google product is behind a
  • paywall. However, the free search experience will remain
  • available alongside advertisements.

According to a report from :

the Financial Times on April 3, the tech giant is exploring a range of options

including adding AI-supported search features to its premium subscription

services, which already provide access to the new Gemini

AI assistant in Gmail and Docs.

Google primarily :

  1. relies on ads for its revenue.
  2. The company already offers a variety of plans
  3. such as the Gemini AI assistant in Gmail and Docs.

However :

  • these subscriptions currently do not enhance the search experience.
  • Google's core products, such as the Google search engine
  • have been free since their launch in the early 2000s.

However

Google may be seeking different avenues to generate profits.

The report added that Google's traditional search engine will remain free

with ads continuing to appear alongside search results even for subscribers.

With recent competition in the AI field

  1. most tech companies
  2. have been trying to bring
  3. more products to market.

Google has started

experimenting with its AI-driven search tool

combining personalized narratives with web links and advertisements.

However :

integration into the core search engine lags due to

slow adoption of the feature from its "AI search experience" trial.

However :

AI queries require more processing power

resulting in additional costs compared to general queries.

Therefore :

Google's "AI search experience" may not be profitable if offered for free.

A Google spokesperson

stated that :

the company has no plans for an ad-free search experience:

"We are not working on or considering an ad-free search experience.

As we have done many times in the past, we will continue to build new premium

capabilities and services to enhance our subscription offerings across Google."

In February :

Google added a new paid layer to its consumer subscription service

granting people access to the latest AI model, Gemini.

Users who subscribe, called Google One AI Premium, can use the advanced

Gemini robot and access the generative AI model in popular services

like Gmail and Google Docs.
